Overview

Klar is a family task coordination app made by Studio Cato. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it. We collect as little data as possible. Klar does not require email addresses, passwords, or any personal account information to function.

What We Collect

When you use Klar, the following information is stored:

— A family name chosen by the family owner — Member names chosen by the family owner — Member roles (owner, parent, or child) — Unique join codes generated for each member — Tasks — titles, deadlines, and assignment information — Device push notification tokens (to deliver reminders) — Recovery email addresses, if voluntarily provided by the family owner

We do not collect real names, dates of birth, location data, payment information, or any information about children beyond what is listed above.

How We Use This Information

The information we store is used solely to operate the app:

— To allow family members to join a shared family using their join code — To display tasks to the correct family members — To send push notification reminders as task deadlines approach — To send join code recovery emails, if a recovery email was provided

We do not use your data for advertising, analytics, or any purpose beyond operating Klar.

Children's Privacy

Klar is designed for use by families, including children. We take children's privacy seriously. Klar does not require children to provide any personal information directly. Child member profiles are created by the family owner (a parent or guardian) and contain only a chosen name and role. No email address or other identifying information is required for child members. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond what is necessary to operate the app, and we do not share any family data with third parties for commercial purposes.

Data Storage

Klar uses Supabase to store family and task data. Data is stored on servers in the European Union. Supabase is compliant with GDPR and follows industry-standard security practices. Push notification tokens are stored alongside member records and used only to deliver reminders for that member's tasks.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties, except as required to operate the app:

— Supabase — database and hosting provider — Apple APNs — push notification delivery — Resend — email delivery, only if a recovery email was provided

Each of these providers processes data only as necessary to deliver their service.

Data Retention & Deletion

Your family's data is retained for as long as the family exists in Klar. The family owner can delete the family at any time from within the app, which permanently removes all associated members, tasks, and data. Individual members can be removed by the family owner at any time — removed members lose access immediately. If you would like to request deletion of your data and are unable to do so from within the app, contact us at the address below.

Your Rights

Under GDPR and applicable privacy law, you have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below. Because Klar does not use accounts linked to email addresses, we may ask you to verify your identity as the family owner before processing a request.

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
