Sidetone does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. No account is required. Nothing about you or your usage leaves your device.
If you use a physical Morse key via the headphone jack, the app requests microphone access to detect key presses through audio analysis (Goertzel tone detection). This audio is processed entirely on-device in real time and is never recorded, stored, or sent anywhere.
QSO mode lets you converse with an AI radio operator. Messages you key are sent to a self-hosted language model running on infrastructure owned and operated by Studio Cato — no third-party AI service is involved. Messages are not logged, retained, or associated with any identity. No conversation history is stored after the session ends.
The optional tip jar is handled entirely by Apple via StoreKit. Studio Cato does not receive or process any payment information. Apple's own privacy policy governs all transaction data.
The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking libraries. There are no embedded SDKs that could collect data independently.
Because no data is collected from any user, the app is safe for users of all ages and complies with COPPA and similar regulations by design.
